Archive-Express is a purpose‐built Windows-based NAS Appliance that simplifies the integration of Cloud Storage services into existing storage infrastructures, including Microsoft Windows Server, NetApp FAS, and EMC VNX Storage environments.
Using an intuitive user interface, Archive Jobs are created and executed to provide file system monitoring, data protection, and file migration to Cloud storage, while keeping all data transparently accessible from links created at the original storage location.
Additionally, an Archive-Express repository provides a mechanism for protecting data against modifications and deletions, whether accidental or malicious, therefore meeting compliance requirements for archiving data to a write‐protected (WORM) environment.
Archive-Express Operating Modes
• Copy Mode – original file is retained on Primary storage, and is “replicated” to Cloud storage for recovery purposes. Ideal for maintaining copies of a live file system on the Cloud
• Data Mover Mode – original file is deleted from Primary storage, and is only accessible from Cloud storage. Ideal for performing a “total purge” of old files from Primary storage
• HSM Mode – original file is replaced by a transparent link (stub file) that points to the new location on Cloud storage. Most common method, ideal for maximizing utilization of Primary storage while maintaining access to that data via a stub file
